Lea Michele Suffered Multiple Miscarriages Before Getting Pregnant With Second Baby

Lea Michele is opening up about her path to motherhood.

The 37-year-old Glee alum made an appearance on the BDA Baby podcast, where she talked about conceiving her second child with Zandy Reich.

During the conversation, she revealed that she suffered multiple miscarriages prior to conceiving their second baby.

Lea said that as they “start[ed] trying” to have their second child, the process was “completely not what [they] expected,” and that she “had two back-to-back very early failed pregnancies” that left her “shocked.”

“I had never had a miscarriage before. … The first one, I was like, ‘That was weird.’ When it happened again right away, I was like, ‘Wait a second. Something is wrong,’” she continued.

She ultimately decided to “step away” from trying to have a baby, deciding it wasn’t “the right time.”

“It wasn’t until a little bit later [that] I had another [loss]. I was working at the time. It was super challenging to … process what we were experiencing at the same time, which was very painful.”

After Lea decided to “dive deeper into what [was] happening,” she got an endometriosis diagnosis.

Lea then had surgery and got “put on so many drugs and medications and [getting] one thousand shots” before getting pregnant.

The two are already the parents of son Ever, 3, who was born in August 2020.

She attributed their struggles with getting pregnant the first time to polycystic ovary syndrome, and hoped “getting pregnant a second time would be easy.”

She recently revealed her second baby’s sex, and what she wouldn’t name the child.
