Sky Sports journalist, Florian Plettenberg, claims that Tottenham do indeed have a ‘concrete interest’ in signing Federico Chiesa this summer, reinforcing numerous reports we have heard over the past month.
Tottenham are interested in Federico Chiesa
GiveMeSport report that Tottenham are at the front of the queue to sign Chiesa this summer, with Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool and Newcastle United also showing interest.
SportMediaSet (via CalcioNapoli24) even reported that the Italian winger was close to actually joining Spurs last week, in a move worth over £25m.
In fact, they reported live on air: “Chiesa will say goodbye to Italy, he won’t go to Roma or Napoli but to the Premier League. He is close to Tottenham for €30-35m (£25.3m – £29.5m).”
However, Alasdair Gold poured cold water on rumours linking Chiesa with Spurs last week, stating that those he had spoken to within the club have been left “non-plussed” by the transfer speculation.

Florian Plettenberg has now become the latest journalist to claim Tottenham are interested in Chiesa, going as far as to report that Spurs have contacted the player’s agent.
There are apparently ‘no concrete negotiations at this stage’, but it seems Spurs are at least sounding out a potential deal for the summer.
This comes after the news leaked that Chiesa’s agent has flown to London to have meetings with the likes of Tottenham and Chelsea this week (CalcioMercato).
Spurs Web Opinion:
This is the first well-connected and somewhat reliable journalist to report on the Chiesa to Tottenham rumours, so it may be worth taking notice of now.
I think Spurs would be foolish to not at least sound out a deal and see what it could look like. After all, if you can’t get your top targets (Eze or Neto) then Chiesa would be a fantastic fall-back option.
