Lafayette candlelight vigil Tuesday evening, funeral services begin Wednesday for Segus Jolivette
The Lafayette Police officer killed in the hostage standoff in Jeanerette last week will be remembered by friends and family in Lafayette beginning tomorrow evening.
LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) -- The Lafayette Police officer killed in the hostage standoff in Jeanerette last week will be remembered by friends and family in Lafayette beginning tomorrow evening.
A candlelight vigil will be held to honor the memory of Lafayette Police Department Sr. Cpl. Segus Jolivette at the Lafayette Police Department building at 900 W. University Avenue at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
Funeral services for Jolivette will begin Wednesday at Our Saviors Church in Opelousas. Private visitation and a wake will be held from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, with public visitation Thursday morning starting at 9 a.m. Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday.
Jolivette, a Lafayette Police SWAT Team negotiator, leaves behind his wife and five children.
In response to the recent loss of Jolivette, the Lafayette Police Department is collecting donations to assist his family. The City of Lafayette Police Department Fallen Heroes Fund at the Community Foundation of Acadiana was established in 2017 to support LPD team members killed or wounded in the line of duty.
