Household Hazardous Waste Day announced for Scott residents

Scott's Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day is coming soon.

SCOTT, La. (KLFY) -- Mark your calendars! Scott's Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day is coming soon.

The hazardous waste collection event will be held Sept. 21 from 8 - 11 a.m. at the City of Scott Maintenance Building, 118 Lions Club Road in Scott.

The event is free and open to all residents of the city of Scott. Participants must show proof of residency, such as a driver's license or water bill.

The following are items that will be accepted:

  • paint
  • automobile batteries
  • motor oil
  • antifreeze
  • household cleaners
  • household chemicals
  • pesticides
  • flammables
  • corrosives
  • old appliances (such as stoves, hot water heaters, etc.)
  • electronic waste (such as computers, monitors, printers, scanners, battery backups, cables, digital cameras, toner/ink cartridges, calculators, cellular phones, phone accessories, DVD players, etc.)
  • Tires (limited to 5 tires per vehicle. No tires more than 500 pounds will be accepted.)

The following items will NOT be accepted:

  • infectious and medical wastes
  • biological and radioactive materials
  • compressed gas cylinders
  • ammunition
  • fire extinguishers
  • smoke detectors
  • explosives

The collection event is for households only. Large quantities from businesses, farms or commercial operations will not be accepted.
