AUSTIN (KXAN) -- An Austin restaurant received a $50,000 grant from the National Trust of Historic Preservation and American Express as part of a national effort to preserve small restaurants.

Cisco's Restaurant Bakery & Bar earned the grant through the "Backing Historic Small Restaurants" program, which has provided 25 restaurants with $50,000 in grant funding over the past three years, according to a release. This year, the program awarded 50 restaurants with the funding, with $2.5 million allocated.

Cisco's Restaurant Bakery & Bar will use the funding to "upgrade, update, and grow their business," per the release. The business is located at 1511 E. Sixth St. and operates a café at the Lions Municipal Golf Course, located at 2901 Enfield Road.
