Daily Show's Jon Stewart sings at Harris' arrival and makes offer to seething Republicans

"The Daily Show" host Jon Stewart marveled at the one-week turnaround for Democrats as he celebrated the energetic arrival of Vice President Kamala Harris into the presidential race.

The overjoyed Stewart did his best Monday night to sing "I'm Coming Out" by Diana Ross, then used his typical cutting humor to jab media outlets, lawmakers and pundits who said President Joe Biden couldn't be replaced on the ticket to face former President Donald Trump.

After playing a montage of several prominent figures — including MSNBC host Joy Reid and Rep. Robert Garcia of California — insisting the vote would be between Biden and Trump, Stewart took a victory lap.

"Listen man," he exclaimed, "the pundits said it couldn't happen, but it did happen! And the Republicans are not very happy about it!"

He then launched into a montage of prominent GOP figures such as Fox News host Sean Hannity decrying the Democratic ticket swap as a "coup."

"But I get it," Stewart retorts. "If I thought I had this thing in the bag and that you were going to going up against old Joe Biden and they they pull this, I'd be like, 'Ref! Ref! Open your eyes! How can you see they're not couping?! They're couping!'"

Stewart said it makes sense the GOP is upset, and offered a consolation prize.

"I do understand that they're upset. It makes sense. So how about we do this. Out of fairness. I'm a fair person. You can replace your old guy, too," he quipped.
