Kazakhstan plans to export wheat to Afghanistan and Pakistan through the Beineu grain terminal. Delegations from Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan visited the terminal last week with Deputy Prime Minister Serik Zhumangarin.

Kazakh media have reported that this wheat will be exported to Afghanistan and Pakistan via Turkmenistan.

The reports state that Kazakhstan intends to store the wheat near its borders with Turkmenistan and to improve the routes for this transport.

To facilitate this, additional storage facilities need to be built in border areas, and logistics will be established through Turkmenistan. According to the report, all parties involved are working on the details of creating a new export route for Kazakh grain.

The Beineu terminal, covering 26 hectares and located in the Mangistau region, has direct access to the Kazakh-Turkmen border.

Since August 2021, Afghanistan has faced severe challenges. The Taliban’s return to power has led to a humanitarian crisis, with widespread shortages of food, medicine, and necessities. The international community has struggled to provide aid amid political instability and security concerns.

The economic collapse has worsened the situation, as businesses shuttered and unemployment soared. The devaluation of the Afghan currency and inflation have made daily life increasingly difficult for ordinary Afghans.

The deteriorating conditions have led to a massive displacement of people, both within Afghanistan and across its borders, creating a significant refugee crisis in neighboring countries.
