Opposition in Parliament demands to declare Wayanad landslides a national disaster

Congress and Communist Party of India Marxist (CPI-M) members in Parliament demanded that the massive landslides in Wayanad, Kerala, be declared a national disaster. Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankar expressed concern over the loss of lives and stated that the Central and state governments are taking necessary steps. Union Minister JP Nadda stated that the central government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is working proactively and in coordination with the state government.
