Intense southwest monsoon rains in Kerala led to landslides in Wayanad, causing numerous fatalities. Heavy waterlogging impacted train operations in the region. The India Meteorological Department issued red alerts for four districts and orange alerts for several others. Rescue operations are underway, with multiple teams and helicopters already deployed to the affected areas.
