Manu Bhaker Creates History At Paris Olympics 2024, Combines With Sarabjot Singh To Win Mixed Team Bronze

Manu Bhaker became the first Indian shooter to win two Olympic medals.

New Delhi: Manu Baker and India scripted history at the Paris Olympics 2024 with a 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team bronze on Tuesday. While it was Bhaker’s second Olympics medal in this edition, it was India’s first shooting medal in a mixed-team event in history. Bhaker also became the first Indian to win two Olympic medals in the history. In the bronze-medal match, India defeated South Koreans 16-10 to take the podium.

Bhaker also became the first Indian after independence to claim two medals in a single Olympics, having already won the women’s 10m air pistol bronze. PM Narendra Modi congratulated the duo soon after.

Our shooters continue to make us proud! Congratulations to @realmanubhaker and Sarabjot Singh for winning the Bronze medal in the 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team event at the #Olympics. Both of them have shown great skills and teamwork. India is incredibly delighted. For Manu, this is her second consecutive Olympic medal, showcasing her consistent excellence and dedication. #Cheer4Bharat,” he posted on X.

British-Indian athlete Norman Pritchard had won two silver medals in 200m sprint and 200m hurdles at the 1900 Olympics but that achievement had come in the pre-Independence era.
