Headteacher begged sister to come over in tragic last call before husband ‘shot her & daughter, 7, dead then himself’

A MUM begged her sister to come over in a tragic last call before she and her daughter were allegedly shot dead by her husband, an inquest heard.

Epsom College headteacher Emma Pattison, 45, and seven-year-old Lettie were found dead on the school grounds on February 5.

A coroner today ruled husband George shot them before he turned the gun on himself in a murder-suicide.

He also concluded Emma and Lettie were unlawfully killed at an unknown time between February 4 and 5, 2023.

An inquest heard today how Emma called her sister Deborah Kirk at 11pm on February 4 to tell her George had hit both her and dog Bella.

She begged: “I need someone to come over.”

Deborah said her sister’s voice was one of concern but “not of terror” like she had assessed the situation and did not feel safe.

She and her husband Mark Miller got in an Uber shortly after as Deborah repeatedly attempted to call Emma.

When they arrived at the house, all of the lights were on and the cars were in the driveway.

Deborah’s husband entered ahead of her and stopped her from coming in any further, the inquest heard.

She told the court: “He said don’t go in there, don’t go in there, we are going outside.”

Mark called an ambulance and paramedics arrived shortly after.

A post mortem found Emma died of shock, haemorrhage and shotgun wounds to the chest and abdomen.

Little Lettie was killed after suffering a single shotgun wound to her head.

George, 39, also died from a shotgun wound to the head, Surrey Coroner’s Court was told.

A toxicology report found he had 243 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood.

This was described as a quantity associated with a “high to extreme” level of intoxication.

The inquest heard Emma had been watching rugby with friends in the hours before her death.

At around 9.36pm, she was “smiley” as she received a Chinese takeaway from a delivery driver at her home.

In a moving tribute, Deborah described her sister as “lightness itself” and said Lettie was “razor smart, curious, and disarmingly cute.”

She also told the court she was still trying to forgive her brother-in-law following the horror.

She said: “I can only speak for myself when I say that I am trying to forgive you.

“I can only imagine that you were in an extraordinary hell of your own.”

The inquest continues.
