No bill proposed for complete abolition of manual scavenging: Government

The Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment stated that no bill exists for complete mechanisation of sewerage cleaning and ending manual scavenging. The ministry considered amending the current law but opted to implement the National Action for Mechanised Sanitation Ecosystem (NAMASTE) plan instead.
