Kate Middleton Had a Bold Talk With Queen Elizabeth About How She’d Handle Family Matters, New Book Claims

Catherine, Princess of Wales, better known as Kate Middleton, allegedly laid down her plans for being a senior royal to Queen Elizabeth II back in 2015, highlighting how her number one priority will always be her children.

In Robert Jobson’s upcoming book, Catherine, the Princess of Wales: A Biography of the Future Queen via USMagazine, he detailed how Kate “boldly laid out” what her priorities would be, while she was pregnant with her and Prince William’s second child, Princess Charlotte in 2015.

“[Kate] established some fundamental life rules that she would stick to when she joined The Firm,” Jobson said in his upcoming book. “Her ‘terms’ were in fact presented to Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles … She was clear from the outset that she would not be pigeon-holed into carrying out particular duties … her priority, she emphasized, would always be her family.”

Before Kate and William, Princess Diana also made it a point to make her children her priority, something unheard of by the royal family beforehand. Oftentimes beforehand, the royals would not show much public affection for their children, and often tried to portray the “perfect” family.

For those who don’t know, William and Kate have been together on and off since 2003. Since their nuptials, they have since welcomed three children named George, 11, Charlotte, 9, and Louis, 6.

In a previous podcast episode of Happy Mum, Happy Baby, hosted by Giovanna Fletcher, via Town and Country, Kate talked about how she incorporates her family traditions into her parenting.

“I had an amazing Granny who devoted a lot of time to us—playing with us, doing arts and crafts, and going to the greenhouse to do gardening, and cooking with us—and I try and incorporate a lot of the experiences that she gave us at the time into the experiences that I give my children now,” she said.
