Governor Roy Cooper Pulls Name From Vice Presidential Contention on Kamala Harris' Ticket

North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper will not be Vice President Kamala Harris‘ running mate for the 2024 Presidential election.

If you don’t keep up with politics, the current VP has enough delegates to win the nomination and become the Democratic nominee in the race against Republican nominee Donald Trump.

Governor Cooper was considered a candidate for the VP slot, but he has pulled his name from contention.

“I strongly support Vice President Harris’ campaign for President. I know she’s going to win and I was honored to be considered for this role. This just wasn’t the right time for North Carolina and for me to potentially be on a national ticket,” he explained about why he ended up declining.

He added, “As I’ve said from the beginning, she has an outstanding list of people from which to choose, and we’ll all work to make sure she wins.”

Others considered in contention are Arizona Senator Mark Kelly, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear, and some others.
