‘Made my day’ cry gardening fans after discovering major garden centre is flogging cheap plants on Too Good To Go

IF you’re an avid bargain hunter, it’s likely that you’re already familiar with Too Good To Go.

The app is designed to try and reduce the huge amount of food that’s chucked away by supermarkets by flogging discounted surprise bags full of goodies.

But you can bag cheap plants from Dobbies if you’re quick too[/caption]

Various stores – including Aldi, Morrisons, Greggs, Starbucks, Costa, Cafe Nero and Subway – all signed up to sell the boxes comprised of almost out of date food at a hugely reduced price.

Generally, you need to be quick because there’s a select few boxes available each day.

While the food is all close to expiry, you can often freeze lots of it or cook something up so that it’ll last you a few days going forward.

But savvy shoppers have been left stunned after discovering they can also snap up cheap plants on the app too.

Dobbies, the largest garden centre chain in the UK, has been set up on Too Good To Go for the past three years.

While they offer tasty leftover food from their cafes in £3.99 surprise bags, customers can also get a gardening bargain too.

Too Good To Go boxes featuring indoor and outdoor plants with an RRP of £30 are available to buy for £10 from select Dobbies stores.

And people have claimed it’s “made their day” after discovering the garden “secret”.

One plant lover picked up a Dobbies Indoor Plant Bag £10 at the Milton Keynes store in Buckinghamshire.

Posting on Reddit, she said: “I’ve been curious about this for weeks, but not been able to get there for collection time.

“When I got there, they brought me outdoor plants that looked very sad, but when I pointed out that I’d ordered indoor plants they went and grabbed these for me.

“The peace lily even came with the nice pot for it.”

Another shopper, Joanne, said she “loves a plant bargain” as she shared her find on social media.

Not one to gatekeep her discovery, Joanne – from Perth – said: “It has come to my attention that not a lot of people know that Dobbies now do Too Good To Go plant bags.

“I got an indoor plant back for £10 and I got two beautiful house plants.

“The one in the hall should have been a tenner and the one in the kitchen should have been £25.

“I have never been happier! They had a big shelf that I could just pick some from!!”

Her clip has since gone viral, racking up more than 170,000 views.

And gardening fans have been left stunned that they hadn’t heard of the Dobbies bags before.

“This made me say WHAT out loud”, cried one.

Someone else wrote: “OMG! *checks app immediately*”
