Black bear spotted in multiple areas around Amherst
Police warned that bears are usually docile but may be aggressive if cornered.
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A black bear was spotted in the area of Sherbrooke Avenue in Amherst on Tuesday morning, according to Amherst police.
Officers and Amherst Animal Control are on scene and monitoring the bear, according to police.
WIVB News 4 first received reports of the bear just after 10:50 a.m. The bear has also reportedly been spotted in the area of Hopkins Road.
Police warned that bears are usually docile but may be aggressive if cornered. If you see the bear, police advise to leave it an escape route.
