Man tased, arrested in Dutchess County after pursuit with troopers

PLEASANT VALLEY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- State police reported the arrest of a Brooklyn man following a pursuit with troopers in Pleasant Valley on July 26. Aquino Walker, 30, is facing numerous charges.

On Friday around 9:30 p.m., state police pulled over a Ford Taurus heading northbound on the Taconic State Parkway for reportedly violating vehicle and traffic law. Troopers approached the car and commanded the driver, later identified as Walker, to lower his windows and place the vehicle in park.

State police say Walker refused to comply and drove off. Shortly thereafter, troopers found his car heavily damaged after it had crashed into trees on the roadway's shoulder.

According to state police, Walker fled on foot into the nearby woods, but was eventually found at a local business on Route 44. He reportedly attempted to flee once again, but he was tased by troopers, who then took him into custody.

While he was being arrested, Walker was allegedly found to have about one and a half ounces of cocaine as well as drug paraphernalia with him. He now faces the following charges:

  • Third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance
  • Second-degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia
  • Third-degree unlawful fleeing a police officer
  • Obstruction of governmental administration
  • Resisting arrest

Walker was arraigned at the Pleasant Valley Court before being released on his own recognizance. He's scheduled to return to court on August 15.
