2024 National Night Out events in the Capital Region

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- National Night Out 2024 is set for Tuesday, August 6. The yearly event focuses on building stronger relationships between police departments and their communities.

National Night Out started in 1984 and takes place on the first Tuesday in August each year. This year, 17,000 communities are participating, with over 120 being in New York. These are the 2024 National Night Out events taking place in the Capital Region.

Adams, Mass.

The Adams Police Department is having a National Night Out event from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Adams Visitors Center at 3 Hoosac Street. The event features a dunk tank, music, a bounce house, police vehicles, Touch-a-Truck, and food.

Albany

The Albany Police Department is making an appearance at several National Night out throughout the city of Albany. The events will feature food and family fun.

• Albany Public Library at 331 Delaware Avenue from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
• Arbor Hill Sport Complex at Lark Drive and Manning Boulevard from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
• Ezra Prentice Homes at 625 South Pearl Street from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
• Lincoln Park at Eagle Street from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
• Hackett Park at 35 North First Street from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
• Whitehall Neighborhood Connection at Edgecomb and Dartmouth Streets from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Amsterdam

The City of Amsterdam is having its National Night Out event at Veteran's Park from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. The event includes vendors, food, live music, kids activities, bounce houses, water slides, and ice cream, as well as police, fire and safety demonstrations. There will also be a free outdoor movie at dusk: Star Wars: The Last Jedi. The pool will also be open until 8 p.m.

Canajoharie

The Canajoharie Police Department is having its National Night Out event in Wagner's Square from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. The event features Touch-a-Truck, food, music, vendors, a movie in White Park, and more.

Catskill

The Catskill Police Department is attending the National Night Out event at Dutchman's Landing Park from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The event includes food, music, games, and prizes.

Clarksville

The Albany County Sheriff's Office is having its National Night Out event at the Albany County Sheriff's Office Public Safety Building from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The event includes food, bike and LEGO raffles, school supply giveaways, face painting, corn hole, K9 demonstrations, and more.

Clifton Park

Clifton Park is having its National Night Out event at Clifton Common from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Attendees can see demonstrations by the Police K9s, meet fire and police officials, explore the Fire-Bus, and more.

Cohoes

The Cohoes Police Department is having its National Night Out event at Canal Square and Greenbriar Park from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The events includes food, music, games, and more.

Delmar

The Bethlehem Police Department is having its National Night Out event at Elm Avenue Park from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The event features live music, vehicle and equipment displays, ice cream, cotton candy, a bounce house, raffles, and more.

Guilderland

The Guilderland Police Department is having its National Night Out event at Tawasentha Park from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The event includes live music by The Refrigerators, a demonstration with K9 Boreas, food, games, and more.

Hudson

The Hudson Police Department is having its National Night Out event at Henry Hudson Riverfront Park from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. The event features food, games, and prizes.

Niskayuna

The Niskayuna Police Department is attending the National Night Out event at the Niskayuna Town Hall Green from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The event features live music, food, a dunk tank, a bounce house, and more.

North Adams, Mass.

The North Adams Police Department is hosting a National Night Out event from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Municipal Field on State Street.

Pittsfield, Mass.

The Pittsfield Police Department is hosting a National Night Out event from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at 100 First Street at the Common. The event includes a drone unit display, emergency vehicles, food, games, music, and more.

Rensselaer

The Rensselaer Police Department is holding its National Night Out event at the police department at 201 Broadway from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The event includes food, drinks, giveaways, police and fire equipment, car seat inspections, and more.

Rotterdam

The Rotterdam Police Department is having its National Night Out event at the Rotterdam Youth Soccer Fields from 5 p.m. to dusk. The event includes food trucks, vendors, a car show, music by DJ Ketchup, kids activities, and fireworks.

Troy

Instead of an official National Night Out event, the Troy Police Department is having "Knickerbacker Night Out" on August 1 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Knickerbacker Park Oval. The event features food, games, and giveaways.

Watervliet

The Watervliet Police Department is hosting a National Night Out event from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Watervliet Pool at 1530 Second Avenue. The event includes free access to the pool, hot dogs, popcorn, freeze pops, music, and more.
