Controlled pharmaceuticals confiscated in Limassol

Controlled pharmaceutical and drug products were confiscated on Tuesday during a police and heath ministry operation in Limassol.

Two shops were searched after information that illegal substances were being traded.

The operation revealed 107 packages of what appears to be cannabis weighing a total of 261 grammes, 11 packages of a brown substance possibly hemp resin weighing about 16 grammes, 25 cigarettes possibly containing cannabis, ten e-cigarettes and a bowl of sweets believed to contain tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and a number of products believed to contain cannabidiol (CBD).

All items were confiscated for further examination.

The police are investigating import of drugs and illegal selling of controlled pharmaceutical products.

In June 2022, the Pharmaceutical Services listed CBD products as pharmaceuticals and a licence is necessary to sell them.
