Saoirse Ronan Had a Secret Wedding
She married Jack Lowden in an intimate ceremony in Scotland.
Saoirse Ronan is married! The actress tied the knot with fellow actor Jack Lowden in a secret ceremony in Edinburgh over the weekend, the Irish Independent reports.
According to the paper, Scottish civil marriage records show that the couple invited only a few family members and close friends to their wedding at the Edinburgh Central Registrar’s Office. Guests were apparently “sworn to secrecy” about the intimate, “low key” celebration.
Ronan, who is Irish, and Lowden, who is Scottish, met while working on the 2018 movie Mary Queen of Scots. (Ronan played the title character and Lowden played her second husband, Henry Stuart.) Most recently, the couple produced (and Ronan starred in) The Outrun, which premiered at Sundance in January. In 2018, Lowden said working with Ronan was “remarkable,” describing her as “a force of nature.” In 2022, she complimented Lowden, telling People, “I completely trust his eye. And I know when he says something’s working, it really is, because he doesn’t ever sugarcoat anything.”
The couple first sparked engagement rumors in July 2023 when Lowden posted a photo that showed Ronan’s left hand with a diamond ring on it. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ronan and Lowden live in Islington, North London, and have a terrier named Fran, whom Ronan has described as “an absolute genius.” Congrats to the newlyweds, and Fran!
