Carrie Coon (‘The Gilded Age’): Emmys 2024 episode submission revealed

Gold Derby can exclusively reveal that Carrie Coon is entering “The Gilded Age” episode “Head to Head” as her 2024 Emmy Award submission for Best Drama Actress. “Head to Head” debuted on November 12, 2023, and is the third episode of the HBO drama’s second season.

In “Head to Head,” Bertha (Coon) “eagerly anticipates the Duke of Buckingham’s impending New York visit” and “maneuvers to force New York’s elite to choose between supporting the Academy of Music or The Met.” The episode was written by Julian Fellowes and Sonja Warfield and directed by Michael Engler.

Coon is a two-time Emmy Award nominee, having been previously nominated for the FX limited series “Fargo.” For this 2024 contest, Coon is competing against Jennifer Aniston (“The Morning Show”), Maya Erskine (“Mr. & Mrs. Smith”), Anna Sawai (“Shogun”), Imelda Staunton (“The Crown”) and Reese Witherspoon (“The Morning Show”). The 2023 category winner was Sarah Snook for the final season of “Succession.”

“The Gilded Age” received six total nominations this year, including its first-ever Best Drama Series mention, as well as Best Drama Supporting Actress for Christine Baranski.
