Larry's Shortstop in Topeka closes

TOPEKA (KSNT) - A longtime Topeka staple shut its doors for the last time on Tuesday.

Larry's Shortstop, which has been located on Topeka Boulevard for nearly 40 years, is officially closed as of 2 p.m. on July 30. They were known for their great cheeseburgers and breakfast options.

27 News spoke to some employees who tell us they are closing after the most recent owner recently went back home to Mississippi. They also say they did not receive their most recent paycheck.

The employees said they are hopeful somebody new will eventually buy the store and reopen the kitchen, but for now it is officially closed. The business changed hands in October 2022, undergoing some renovation work.
