Liverpool midfielder Wataru Endo has been linked with a move away from the club this summer.

According to Football Insider, Liverpool have already turned down an offer of around £12 million from Ligue 1 Marseille.

The Japanese international has been a very useful player for Liverpool since joining the club and it is no surprise that other clubs are looking to sign him. However, Liverpool are unwilling to sell the player this summer.

Liverpool are lacking a specialist defensive midfielder apart from Endo and they will not want to weaken their squad any further by sanctioning his departure. The midfielder has been a revelation since joining Liverpool from Stuttgart 12 months ago. Liverpool paid around £16.2 million to sign the midfielder last summer and he has impressed with his performances over the last 12 months.

Wataru Endo would be a useful option

There is no doubt that the 31-year-old would be a quality acquisition for most clubs and it remains to be seen how the situation develops. He had ample game time at Liverpool last season and the player is unlikely to force an exit any time soon. Any club hoping to sign the Japanese international will have to pay a premium. The midfielder made 43 appearances across all competitions last season and he helped Liverpool win the English League cup as well.

The midfielder will be reasonably happy with his debut season in the Premier League and he will look to push on the upcoming campaign and help Liverpool win major trophies. The 31-year-old will be a useful player for Arne Slot. Even if he does not start for them regularly, he could be a vital squad player for them.

Liverpool need a deeper squad in order to compete on all fronts and they cannot afford to let useful players like Endo leave the club any time soon.
