The Taliban has condemned the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, the head of Hamas’s political bureau, calling it a “great loss for the Islamic Ummah and the jihadist movement.”

In a statement, the group emphasized that supporting Palestine and Hamas is both an Islamic and humanitarian duty.

On Wednesday, July 31st, the Taliban issued a declaration stating that “Ismail Haniyeh was a wise and capable Palestinian Muslim who made significant sacrifices in his successful struggle and jihad, remaining faithful to his cause.” According to the Taliban, “Martyrdom is the greatest victory for a Muslim and a mujahid.”

The group praised Haniyeh for teaching his followers the values of resistance, sacrifice, patience, endurance, and struggle.

The Taliban extended its condolences to the Palestinian people and reaffirmed its commitment to defending Palestine and Hamas as part of their Islamic and humanitarian responsibilities.

They urged Muslim and Arab countries to make every effort to stop Israeli attacks, warning that continued “Israeli crimes” will lead to further instability in the region, holding Israel and its supporters accountable for any consequences.

Meanwhile, Ismail Haniyeh also met with Abdul Kabir, the Taliban’s deputy prime minister, in Tehran on Tuesday during the inauguration ceremony of Massoud Pezeshkian.

Ismail Haniyeh was killed in an attack in Tehran on Tuesday night.

The assassination of Ismail Haniyeh marks a significant event in the ongoing conflict involving Palestine and Israel.
