The incident happened early on with the scoreline still goalless, with Haaland left amused as he allowed himself a wry smile.

The striker did brilliantly to volley Oscar Bobb’s cross towards the bottom corner while on the stretch, and the ball appeared to cross the line.

Barca keeper Inaki Pena managed to kick the ball onto the post and as it rebounded some fans thought it trickled over the line as Pena scrambled to get the ball clear.

But the referee waved play on, much to the dismay of those watching on.

One fan reacted saying: “Robbed in broad daylight.”

Another added: “This is a joke, but without goal line technology nothing can be done.”

A third wrote: “I’m still surprised this didn’t count.”

And another commented: “That was 100 per cent in.”
