I bought a stylish sports car for just £600 – after a day in the workshop I’ll walk away with a £1000 profit

A DRIVER has revealed how he plans to make £1,000 profit on a stylish sports car he bought for just £500.

Just a single day’s work in the garage could see the retro motor worth a few thousand.

Matthew Goodwin, who runs the High Peak Autos dealership in Stockport, picked up the “unusual” motor for cheap despite it being exceptionally rare.

He estimated that there were fewer than 100 of the model left on UK roads as “most just rotted away and got scrapped”.

The car was a white Nissan 100NX, which Matthew picked up for £600 on Facebook Marketplace, along with a second one in blue that he snapped up for £500.

It was also an automatic which, according to the petrolhead, meant that its one of only 16 currently registered in the UK.

A walkaround of the car revealed some light scuffing to the paint and a broken glovebox but beyond that all the was really needed was some light welding underneath.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Matthew said: “This looks a bit rough but it’s actually in better nick than [the blue] one.

“And weirdly we’ve got odd wheels…so what I’m going to have to do is set of original Nissan wheels.

“This one, I think, for a few hundred pounds will be back on the road.”

Overall he estimated that it would cost him about another £600 to make the vehicle roadworthy, but that he could sell it on for around £1,500 profit.

All it needed was a day in the workshop to do the welding and replace some parts, while the new wheels and tyres could be harvested from the other NX he bought.

Social media commenters loved the project and begged Matthew to keep the motors on the road.

One joked: “You now own 5% of the entire 100nx fleet.

“Thanks for saving them.”

Another added: “I think it’ll be worth it to see both of them restored.

“They’re rare cars and I’m sure that even if they’re niche.

“Whoever is going to buy them is going to love them.”

It comes after Wheeler Dealers star Mike Brewer revealed the little hatchback which will be a “sought-after classic” in the near future.
