Maya Rudolph Will Return to Play Kamala Harris on 'SNL'

Maya Rudolph is back in action as Vice President Kamala Harris!

The 52-year-old Saturday Night Live alum will reprise her role as the presidential hopeful this fall on the NBC series ahead of the 2024 election, Deadline reports.

The news comes amid many fan campaigns on social media for Maya to reprise the role.

Deadline also reports pre-production on Season 3 of her Apple TV+ comedy series Loot, which was scheduled to begin filming August 26, has been paused. The cast and crew of the comedy series were told that production has been pushed for scheduling reasons, according to the report.

The upcoming 50th season of SNL is set to premiere September 28.

Maya‘s portrayal of Kamala Harris became instantly popular when she was introduced in the cold open for the December 21, 2019 episode of SNL hosted by Eddie Murphy. She later won the Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series in 2020 her portrayal.

She has reprised her role as Kamala Harris a handful of times since, including her March 2021 hosting stint, which earned her another Guest Actress In a Comedy Series Emmy.
