Witnesses feared Pax Jolie-Pitt was dead from head injury after bike crash

People rushing to the aid of Angelina Jolie's son after his bike accident Monday found the 20-year-old unconscious and lying in the street.

Witnesses feared that Pax Jolie-Pitt was dead when they rushed to his aid Monday evening after he crashed his electric bike into a stopped car on Los Angeles’ busy Los Feliz Boulevard and suffered an apparent head injury while not wearing a helmet, a report says.

The 20-year-old son of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt was unconscious and lying in the street, TMZ reported. He had been thrown off his bike, and witnesses were “incredibly worried” he was dying or already dead — that is, until he regained consciousness when paramedics arrived on the scene, TMZ said.

Still, paramedics were concerned that Jolie-Pitt had suffered a possible brain bleed, or intracranial hemorrhage, TMZ reported. He was rushed to a nearby hospital and was still there as of Tuesday, where his condition was reported to be stable. His mother, who lives near the accident scene, joined him at the hospital and stayed by his side, TMZ, Page Six and People magazine all reported.

The accident occurred at about 5 p.m. Monday during rush hour, on heavily trafficked Los Feliz Boulevard. As Jolie-Pitt approached a red light on his BMX-style e-bike, he slammed into the back of a car stopped at an intersection, police sources told TMZ.

Whatever injury Jolie-Pitt suffered, it’s possible he made it worse because of his reported habit of not wearing a helmet while riding his bike around his hometown of Los Angeles. TMZ reported that Jolie-Pitt has recently been seen cruising around the city on his bike, and almost always without a helmet.

Page Six quoted a source who said that Jolie-Pitt had been involved in “multiple” accidents on his bicycle prior to Monday’s crash. The source also said that he almost never wears a helmet.

“His friends are concerned about him,” an insider shares. “He’s being reckless. They’re worried.”

TMZ said that California helmet laws differ on whether protective head gear  is required, depending on the class of bicycle, so it’s unclear whether Jolie-Pax needed a helmet for this particular bicycle. However, it seems apparent that a helmet would have been useful for Jolie-Pitt on Monday night, TMZ added.

Jolie-Pitt is the second oldest of six children once happily shared by Jolie and Pitt. That is, until Jolie filed for divorce in September 2016, and she and Pitt became locked in a bitter, years-long divorce battle over custody and the division of property, notably a French winery and chateau that the former super couple purchased together in better times.

Jolie-Pitt’s five siblings are Maddox, 22, Zahara, 19, Shiloh, 18, and 16-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne. It’s been reported that Jolie-Pitt and the two older siblings, Maddox and Zahara, are estranged from Pitt and have “virtually no contact” with him. But Shiloh also has been in the news because of her legal petition to formally drop her father’s last name from her own so that she would henceforth be known as Shiloh Jolie, instead of Shiloh Jolie-Pitt.

A lot of the bitterness between Jolie and Pitt stems from her allegations that the “Once Upon in Hollywood” star was heavily intoxicated and verbally and physically abusive to her and several of their children during a September 2016 private plane ride from Europe to Los Angeles. Pitt has long denied the allegations, but his reported behavior on the plane ride prompted Jolie to file for divorce.
