SHAWNEE COUNTY (KSNT) - Law enforcement is identifying the victims of a recent shooting incident that left two people dead in a neighborhood south of Topeka earlier in the week.

On Wednesday, July 31 the Shawnee County Sheriff's Office released new information regarding Monday's deadly shooting situation. The victims of the shooting are being identified as Johanys C. Rivera, 30, and Alvin D. Munsell, 40, both of Topeka. Investigators found the pair were previously involved in a domestic relationship.

Deputies were called around 7:45 p.m. on July 29 to the 1600 block of SW 70th Street in the Montara neighborhood south of Topeka. Law enforcement found a woman, identified as Rivera, suffering from several gunshot wounds and a man, identified as Munsell, suffering from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Both were declared dead at the scene.

Investigators found four juveniles, all under the age of 12, were associated with the home where the killings took place. Three were found at a nearby neighbor's home with another being located at a grandparent's house. All were found unharmed and sent to other family members. The shooting incident remains under investigation.

The sheriff's office initially reported the situation appeared to be domestic in origin. No other individuals were believed to be involved in the shooting incident.
