Clifton Park man arrested for gun possession

A Clifton Park man was arrested on July 30 for possession of a loaded handgun. Jassen Washington, 18,0 was taken into custody and charged with two charges.

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- A Clifton Park man was arrested on July 30 for possession of a loaded handgun. Jassen Washington, 18, was taken into custody and charged with two charges.

Police responded to Osborne Street and Elizabeth Street on reports of a person with a weapon around 8:05 p.m. When on the scene, officers learned three individuals were in the backyard of a house and when asked to leave, two allegedly showed their handguns and ran off.

Officers later located an individual matching the description given to police, near Lincoln Square Apartments and attempted to stop him. After a brief foot chase, Washington was taken into custody; a .380 caliber handgun was recovered from a bag he had on him.

Charges:

• Criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree
• Menacing in the second-degree

He was arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court on Wednesday morning. He was then remanded to the Albany County Jail.
