‘Power Rangers’ Star Sought by Police After Horrifying Video Goes Viral

A 'Power Rangers' star has been charged after a video showing him allegedly shoving an elderly man to the ground over a parking dispute went viral.

One of the stars of Power Rangers is being sought by authorities after a horrifying video went viral, KTVB reported.

35-year-old Hector David Rivera has been charged with misdemeanor battery after a video emerged which appears to show Rivera assaulting a senior citizen. The incident allegedly occurred on July 26 in a parking lot in Nampa, ID, after Rivera and the unidentified victim—who is in his 60s and can be seen in the video using a walker—began arguing about a parking arrangement.

In the footage, a man believed to be Rivera can be seen charging the elderly man from behind before pushing him, sending the victim and his walker tumbling to the ground. The aggressor then stands over the victim, pointing and speaking animatedly before fleeing back to his car. The victim was helped to his feet by witnesses and was not hurt in the melee.

Nampa police posted the footage to their Facebook page and asked for the public’s help identifying the younger man in the footage. Community members were able to piece together his identity from the hat he was wearing, which belonged to a local company, as well as his former acting roles.

A man claiming to be the victim in the video weighed in on the Facebook thread, saying he hopes Rivera finds help before he seriously hurts someone. “At this point, I'm not saying a lot regarding this situation because it [is still] under investigation,” the person wrote. “I'm that ‘elderly man’ victim. Other than minor abrasion and swelling, I'm good. More shaken up than injury [sic]. ???????????? this guy needs help before his outbursts really hurt someone.”

Rivera played the Green Power Ranger in a rebooted form of the series between 2011 and 2015, before a 2017 movie once again reset the franchise’s mythology. Rivera has also appeared in small roles in Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, and the recent Father of the Bride remake.

The actor was due to appear this upcoming weekend at Magic Valley Comic-Con, though Rivera has been removed from the event’s website. “We are just finding out about this ourselves,” said Larissa Long, a spokesperson for the event. “We are looking into it and will take appropriate action.”

Neither Rivera nor his manager immediately responded to a request for comment from Men’s Journal.
