'Is she Black?' Trump questions Kamala Harris' race at Black journalists' convention

Donald Trump questioned his presumed opponent Kamala Harris' race in front of a room of Black journalist Wednesday.

While being questioned at the National Association of Black Journalists event in Chicago he was confronted over allegations from members of the Republican Party that Vice President Kamala Harris was a "DEI hire."

"What is DEI?" Trump asked.

"It's diversity, equity and inclusion," Scott followed.

He then launched into a lengthy questioning of what Harris - born to Jamaican and Indian parents — race is.

"Now it is a little bit different," Trump began. "I have known her a long time, indirectly, not directly very much. And she was always of Indian heritage, and she was only promoting Indian heritage.

"I did not know she was Black until a number of years ago, when she happened to turn Black, and now she wants to be known as Black. Is she Indian or is she Black?"

Gasps, boos, and grumbles could be heard from the audience.
