San Jose: Farm-to-table Braise restaurant closing in Willow Glen

Diners have a few more nights for Cheddar Beignets, creative cocktails, farm-to-table dishes

After a seven-year run, chef-owner AJ Jimenez is shutting down his farm-to-table Braise Restaurant & Bar on Lincoln Avenue in San Jose’s Willow Glen district.

Customers have until Monday, Aug. 5, to get there for the popular Cheddar Beignets, Braised Beets, Green Papaya Salad, Buttermilk-Fried Chicken, AJ’s Original PB&J (made with bone marrow, nut butter, housemade seasonal jam) and signature cocktails.

“We are extremely grateful for your Braise appetite since we opened in 2017,” Jimenez and staff wrote to customers, “and we want to assure you that this decision was not taken lightly. Due to multiple determining factors, it has become impossible for us to keep business going.”

Jimenez could not immediately be reached for details on the shutdown, or what he has in the works. The customer note ended with, “We hope to see you again on our next venture.”
