DJ Moore Is Pressuring Bears To Extend Another Key Offensive Player
Few men are happier right now than DJ Moore. The star wide receiver had the best season of his career in 2023, racking up 1,300 yards and eight touchdowns. A few months later, the Chicago Bears found him a new quarterback in Caleb Williams. Lastly, they gave him a $110 million extension, locking the receiver in place through 2029. Moore celebrated by going to Popeye’s for some fried chicken. One can understand why he’d be all smiles. However, he’s also somebody who always has one eye on the future.
Moore’s next objective? Find a way to ensure Keenan Allen stays in Chicago beyond 2024. The six-time Pro Bowler is in the last year of his contract.
“I was like, man, listen. What’s your number? Let’s get it done. And I mean, I’m going to leave his number out of it. But I think we can get it done.”
Keeping Allen will be tough, even with DJ Moore pushing for it.
The Bears haven’t engaged the veteran in any extension talks yet. It appears they’d like to see him in action first. Allen has dealt with some injury issues over the past few years. His ability isn’t in question, but his durability is. If he can make it to the bye week with no setbacks, the team might entertain the idea. DJ Moore seems convinced Allen’s desired number is something the Bears can manage. Chicago has over $47 million in cap space next year. That may sound like a lot, but it can best be called modest. If Allen wants anything close to the $20 million per season he’s been making, that might be difficult to sell. We’ll see how far Moore’s influence can go in this.
