Portland sees hottest July on record
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- Record-breaking temperatures, a relentless heat wave, and 21 days above average have helped put July 2024 in the record books for Portland.
Portland saw its hottest July on record this year after experiencing an average temperature of 74.5-degrees. That's nearly 4.5-degrees above the average of 70.2-degrees. That's the mean of Portland's afternoon high and overnight low averaged out through the month.
The biggest culprit this record July was the heat wave early in the month. Portland broke records five days in a row as temperatures sat above 100-degrees for three days.
Summer heat is expected to return to the Portland, Vancouver metro area by the start of August.
