Man Utd vs Liverpool preview
An intriguing battle awaits as Premier League heavyweights Manchester United and Liverpool meet in South Carolina this weekend.
This will be United’s fifth and final pre-season encounter ahead of next week’s Community Shield with arch-rivals Manchester City at Wembley.
And it’s fair to say it’s been a mixed bag for Erik ten Hag.
The Red Devils lost to both Rosenborg and Arsenal over the last couple of weeks, but did manage to secure a morale-boosting 3-2 win over Real Betis on Thursday.
Amad Diallo looked impressive during that clash, but any positive vibes have been tempered by the loss of new £52m defender Leny Yoro and striker Rasmus Hojlund, who will be sidelined for three months and six weeks respectively.
It’s been altogether more positive for Liverpool.
Arne Slot’s new-look side beat Real Betis before recording a great win over a strong Arsenal XI in Philadelphia with an impressive showing from Harvey Elliott.
