Lt Gen Vikas Lakhera assumes charge as DG of Assam Rifles

Lt Gen Vikas Lakhera has taken charge as the new director general of the Assam Rifles, succeeding Lt Gen PC Nair. Commissioned into the 4 SIKH LI of the Indian Army in 1990, Lakhera has extensive experience in the northeastern region. A postgraduate from Defence Service Staff College, Wellington, and an alumnus of the Royal College of Defence Studies, London, he has held various command and staff roles. Previously, he served as additional director general military operations. His accolades include the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal and Sena Medal.
