KANSAS (KSNT) - Last night a strong thunderstorm moved through Topeka causing several power outages and downed powerlines over roads.

Morning Meteorologist Ely Millard drove around the city to document the damage. Millard said he saw damage between 29th and 27th on Wanamaker, near 37th and Topeka Boulevard and Colfax and 37th.

Topeka police said southwest Topeka Boulevard between 37th and I-470 in both directions was impacted. They also mentioned Southwest Wanamaker between 27th and 29th in both directions.

The Topeka Police Department tells motorists not to drive over downed power lines or around any barriers to direct traffic.

Other areas impacted by damaging winds include parts of Lawrence and Dickinson County.

Evergy sent several crews to assess the damage.
