HALFMOON, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A Saratoga Springs man was arrested following a police chase on the Thaddeus Kosciusko Bridge (Twin Bridges). New York State Police say an investigation led to the arrest of Carmen Daniele, 43, who faces a slew of charges.

On April 10, Clifton Park State Police responded to a complaint from a Halfmoon business that reported a prior shoplifting incident. Police say an investigation found that Daniele entered the store on March 1, and stole merchandise worth over $600.

Police say Daniele was later identified with the help of the Capital Region Crime Analysis Center and the SUNY Albany Police Department. They were unable to locate him and an arrest warrant was issued.

On July 20, Brunswick State Police responded to a past theft from a Brunswick store. Police say an investigation found Daniele allegedly entered the store on July 13 and swapped barcodes on items, resulting in underpayment for merchandise and theft.

On Tuesday, around 7:43 p.m., troopers saw Daniele driving near 126th Street in Troy. Knowing he had multiple arrest warrants, police say they attempted to pull him over but he didn't comply. A chase began.

Police say they chased him through Waterford, Halfmoon, and Clifton Park. The chase eventually ended in Halmoon, after Daniele drove recklessly southbound in the northbound lanes (wrong way) on I-87 near the Twin Bridges.

Police stopped him and he attempted to flee on foot. He was quickly taken into custody. A portion of the I-87 northbound lanes were briefly closed for public safety concerns to investigate.
