What to expect at Nicosia Book Fest
The ultimate event for book lovers, literature fans of all ages and industry professionals is returning. The 9th edition of Nicosia Book Fest will take place on October 5 and 6. Taking place at Acropolis Park in Nicosia with free entry, this year’s festival will be dedicated to Latin American literature and culture.
Rich with captivating stories, legends and magical realism, Latin American literature is renowned around the world, praised by both Spanish-speaking readers and international book enthusiasts. It has given the book world magnificent authors such as Gabriel García Márquez, Jorge Luis Borges, and Mario Vargas Llosa whose books take readers on magical journeys reflecting on life and society. The festival’s activities this year will highlight these writers and welcome authors from Cuba and Brazil, feature a tribute to Chilean poet Pablo Neruda, as well as cultural activities with artists from Latin American countries.
Lots is expected to happen on the weekend of October 5 and 6 and although there is still a little while to go until Acropolis Park fills with book stalls and corners, the organisers are already working hard to make it happen. There will be book presentations, events, interactive presentations for children, activities for kids, a book market, a treasure hunt and food to look forward. What’s more, this year there will be commemorations marking 50 years since the coup and the invasion. A more detailed programme of the 9th Nicosia Book Fest is expected to be announced soon.
