Passenger vehicle sales drop for first time in 2.5 years

July witnessed a decline in passenger vehicle sales in India after over two years. Sales dropped by about 2.5% to around 344,000-345,900 units due to increased dealer inventory and lukewarm consumer interest. While Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai posted declines, Toyota and Mahindra saw growth, driven by demand for utility vehicles.
