Bucs, Tristan Wirfs agree to 5-year extension, making him highest-paid offensive lineman in NFL history

On Thursday morning, the Buccaneers and Tristan Wirfs, their all-pro left tackle, agreed to terms on a five-year, $140 million deal to make him the highest-paid offensive lineman in NFL history.

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — At this year's NFL Combine, Tampa Bay Buccaneers General Manager Jason Licht said if the team resigned their biggest free agents, they should throw another boat parade.

"If we can resign Mike (Evans) and Baker (Mayfield) and Lavonte (David) and Chase (Edmonds) and Antoine (Windfield) and Tristan (Wirfs), I mean, we should be throwing another boat parade," Licht said.

On Thursday morning, the Buccaneers and Tristan Wirfs, their all-pro left tackle, agreed to terms on a five-year, $140 million deal to make him the highest-paid offensive lineman in NFL history, the team announced.

It also happens to complete the list of re-signings Licht said were parade-worthy back in March.

Wirfs, the team's first-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, has already made a name for himself as one of the top tackles in the game.

After winning the Super Bowl with the team in his rookie season, Wirfs was named First-team All-Pro (2021), Second-team All-Pro (2022), and been selected to three consecutive Pro Bowls (2021-2023).

Now, he can add the highest-paid offensive linemen in the history of the game to his accolades, at least for a bit.
