Topeka Zoo license plate petition now open

TOPEKA (KSNT) - The Topeka Zoo and Conservation Center is asking for its fans to sign on to a newly launched petition as it prepares to release a new license plate.

27 News spoke with Director of Development Cynthia McCarvel with the Topeka Zoo about the petition. The zoo is looking to get 250 signatures from its fans, members and donors to help show the state of Kansas there is enough support to create the new license plate in 2025.

McCarvel said zoo staff will work up designs for people to vote on later in the year through the zoo's Facebook. People signing the petition need only put down their names and the county where they live. You can find the petition by clicking here.

Earlier this year, Kansas Governor Laura Kelly approved Senate Bill 359 which allows for the creation of a Topeka Zoo license plate. It also allows for plate designs for the Kansas City Chiefs, Sporting Kansas City, Sedgwick County Zoo, Kansas City Royals, Kansas City Current, Support the Troops and the First City of Kansas.
