NY Olympic swimmer moves forward: Watch Kate Douglass compete

PELHAM, N.Y. (PIX11) – New York native Kate Douglass has already won a silver medal in the Paris Olympics, and her hometown is ready to watch her dominate again. 

Douglass, a 22-year-old from Pelham, won a bronze medal in the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo and, on Saturday, took home silver in the 100-meter Freestyle Relay.

On Wednesday, Douglass came in first place in the 200-meter breaststroke semi-finals, finishing .20 seconds ahead of the next swimmer. 

Douglass will race again Thursday in the women’s 200-meter breaststroke final at 3:11 p.m. Locals can watch Douglass swim at a watch party at The Picture House Pelham at 175 Wolfs Lane, which will host a viewing party starting at 2:30 p.m.

The Picture House will again put Douglass on the big screen when she races in the 200-meter Individual Mixed Medley Race on Saturday at 2:30 p.m., and again when she races at 1 p.m. Sunday for the 100-meter Medley Relay Race. 

Douglass graduated from the University of Virginia in 2023, where she won 15 NCAA titles. She started competitively swimming at 7-years-old with the Westchester Aquatic Club, then joined Chelsea Piers in New York City in high school, according to NBC.
