Hot and humid, scattered storms, before weekend break in heat

Warm. muggy summer weather will continue, with scattered showers and storms associated with upper-level disturbances, though the strongest activity will tend develop south and west of central Ohio along a boundary.

A few storms could move into parts of central Ohio from the west this evening. Any storm can contain cloud-to-ground lightning, gusty winds and short-lived downpours.

The Storm Prediction Center has much of central and southern Ohio in a Slight Risk (Level 2 out of 5) for damaging winds and hail, if stronger storms develop this evening.

Temperatures will warm into the upper 80s and low 90s, depending on the afternoon cloud cover. The humidity will make it feel hotter, in the upper 90s.

A cold front will slide southeast across Ohio Friday night and Saturday, accompanied by showers and storms, and resulting in slightly cooler and less humid weather later in the weekend into early next week.
