Central Ohio talent creates Disney World hit with 'Dreams That Soar' song

Two central Ohio high school grads, Brooke Weirick and Andrew Lipinski, have combined their talents to create the song "Dreams That Soar" for a new drone show at Disney World, which is a nightly event at Disney Springs.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — Two central Ohio high school graduates have combined their talents to inspire Disney World visitors to let their aspirations fly.

Brooke Weirick, a 2006 Dublin Scioto graduate who now lives in Los Angeles, and Andrew Lipinski, a 2008 Olentangy Liberty alum who calls Orlando, Florida, home, are key members of the team who recorded the song “Dreams That Soar” that is part of a drone show at the park.

In an email to NBC4, Weirick shared that Lipinski wrote and produced the song "to remind his daughter and all who hear that 'you can achieve anything' and to 'take your dreams to new heights … let all of your doubts go.'"

Weirick, the lead female vocalist on the song, said the rousing ballad was recorded at Disney’s studios in Orlando and released by Walt Disney Records in June.

A lifelong Disney fan, Weirick shared that she dreamed of singing for the entertainment brand since she was a child. However, in 2020 she began to question if it would ever become a reality.

"With the pandemic, strikes, and AI replicating/replacing our voices, the singing community has faced a lot of challenges, but in the most mind-blowing (and humbling) way God opened the ultimate door!" Weirick said.

It was when Lipinski, who works for the iconic company, reconnected with Weirick more than a dozen years after the two had collaborated while in their former pop bands, she received "one of the greatest opportunities and blessings" in being asked to sing "Dreams That Soar."

"Not only was this a dream fulfilled but working with a top-tier talent like Andrew again and being part of his incredible team is an honor I will never forget!" Weirick said. "I am so grateful and hope this story inspires others to keep going!"

Other vital team members involved were Matthew Jordan Leeds, who was responsible for the musical arrangement; vocalist Michelle Lindahl, who supplied the vocal arrangement; lead male vocalist Omar Jose Cardona; mixing engineer Stephen Marro; and mastering engineer Daniel Rowland.

Disney World guests can experience the nearly 10-minute drone show, Disney Dreams That Soar, nightly through Sept. 2, according to the park's website. The performance is located outdoors at Disney Springs, which is home to boutiques, eateries and entertainment.

The display's description states that the 800 drones involved are "choreographed to a soaring musical score of iconic Disney music and memorable dialogue from beloved Disney movies." The drones create images of popular Disney characters from "Toy Story," "Coco," "Dumbo," "Peter Pan," "Up," "Star Wars" and more.

The song "Dreams That Soar" is available on Apple Music and Spotify.
