Reese Witherspoon (‘The Morning Show’): Emmys 2024 episode submission revealed

Gold Derby can exclusively reveal that Reese Witherspoon is entering “The Morning Show” episode “Love Island” as her 2024 Emmy Award submission for Best Drama Actress. “Love Island” debuted on October 4, 2023, and is the fifth episode of the Apple TV+ drama’s third season.

In “Love Island,” the audience is shown what led Bradley (Witherspoon) to her fateful decisions during the January 6 uprising in Washington, D.C. The episode was written by Zander Lehmann and directed by Stacie Passon.

Witherspoon is a six-time Emmy Award nominee and a past winner as executive producer of “Big Little Lies.” She has never won an acting Emmy. For “The Morning Show,” Witherspoon has received two Best Drama Actress nominations thus far. For this 2024 contest, Witherspoon is competing against her fellow co-star Jennifer Aniston (“The Morning Show”), as well as Carrie Coon (“The Gilded Age”), Anna Sawai (“Shogun”) and Imelda Staunton (“The Crown”). The 2023 category winner was Sarah Snook for the final season of “Succession.”

“The Morning Show” received 16 total nominations this year, including its first-ever Best Drama Series mention, as well as Best Drama Actress nominations for Aniston and Witherspoon, Best Drama Supporting Actor nominations for Billy Crudup, Jon Hamm, and Mark Duplass, Best Drama Supporting Actress nominations for Nicole Beharie, Greta Lee, Karen Pittman, and Holland Taylor, and a guest acting nomination for Marcia Gay Harden.
