Republican Nancy Mace mocked for claiming Biden is MIA — as news of hostage release breaks

Republican Rep. Nancy Mace (R-NC) took to the social media site X Thursday to complain that President Joe Biden was missing in action.

The post came shortly after news broke that the Biden White House had negotiated a prisoner swap to bring home three Americans and one Green Card holder imprisoned by Russia — a move heralded by USA Today as "the largest prisoner swap since the Cold War."

Once the hostages arrived on the ground in Turkey, Biden took the families to the Oval Office, where they were all able to speak to journalists Evan Gershkovich and Alsu Kurmasheva, along with former U.S. Marine Paul Whelan, along with Vladimir Putin critic and Washington Post contributor Vladimir Kara-Murza.

As the major news circulated, Mace's post appeared. It was quickly slammed for being the "worst-timed," with onlookers calling it "humiliating" to her.

The anti-Trump conservative group Republicans against Trump asked Mace on X several hours later, "How's this tweet still up? You're beyond pathetic."

Progressive writer and analyst John Aravosis recalled, "The last time Republicans/Trump freed a hostage, from North Korea, he came back dead."

Podcaster and president of the activist group The New Agenda, Amy Siskind, replied to Mace's post, "Are you working, Nancy? Cause Congress seems to have taken a 2-month vacation. Also check out the news about the American hostages released. Thank you President Biden!"

"You really are embarrassing yourself. Biden just freed American hostages from Russia," social media influencer Outspoken, who has 120,000 followers, posted.
