Hot, hazy conditions stay over Oregon Friday

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- Summer heat remains, but it won't be as extreme as Thursday's conditions.

Temperatures will return to the low-to-mid 90s Thursday as wildfire smoke continues to choke out Pacific Northwest skies. Red sunrises and sunsets will likely take western Oregon and Washington into the weekend.

Smoky conditions from western wildfires will impact the air quality for some along the Willamette Valley. The worst of the haze will stay east of the Cascades.

Temperatures will continue to sit above normal through the weekend and into next week. That comes as the number of days without rainfall keeps drought over Oregon. Thursday's latest update grew the 'moderate' drought through much of southcentral Oregon.

A few breaks in the summer heat will put a pause in the 90-degree trend. A few more clouds are expected to cool the Portland, Vancouver metro area back into the upper 80s this weekend.
