ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Happy Friday everyone! According to Meteorologist Matt Mackie, Friday's temperatures will reach up to 90 degrees and we should expect thunderstorms in the afternoon with humidity.

1. Ericka Brown named as Schenectady shooting victim

On Wednesday, a tragic shooting rocked the Schenectady community when police responded to reports of a woman being shot at a residence on Charles Street. The victim, identified as 30-year-old Ericka Brown, a mother of three, was killed just hours before her birthday.

2. Albany Med nurses give bargaining update

Nurses at Albany Medical Center are now working without a contract after their previous agreement expired at midnight. On Thursday afternoon, nurses rallied across the street from the hospital to give an update on their bargaining negotiations. 

3. Local reaction to expected 9/11 pleas, new memorial in Rensselaer County

The man allegedly behind the 9/11 terrorist attacks has agreed to plead guilty almost 16 years after prosecution began. Defense lawyers have requested Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and his two accomplices receive life sentences in exchange for these pleas.

4. DEC releases air quality report on Dunn Landfill

In the report, the average PM10 was measured from July 2019 to April 2024. This includes PM2.5, a particle that can cause health problems. The report concluded it found “no reason to conclude that PM2.5 levels are elevated at the Rensselaer monitor.”
